Hanging Out in the Heart of the House
kitchen islands are the heart of the kitchen, as the kitchen is the heart of the house. People love to be in kitchens. It really does not matter if you have a beautiful living room or dining room or any other room for that matter for people to spend time in when they get together, somehow everyone always ends up in the kitchen. Kitchen islands are for more than just prep and storage space. In fact, they hold wine glasses, plates of food, or are great for just leaning on when people get involved in wonderful conversations. In an age where people often forget to spend enough time together and communicate in ways other than by email or text, any place that makes them comfortable enough to hang out and talk should be encouraged. The kitchen cart is also a nifty tool for bringing the food and drinks to people are they congregate for talking. When your kitchen is not big enough to have everyone leaning on the kitchen islands or you need room to move while cooking, give everyone the idea of hanging out in other locations by taking the drinks and foods on the kitchen cart and parking it in a good spot. Everyone else will follow and soon be out of your way.
